Floral Jewels and Gemstones Bloom for Spring

Floral Jewels and Gemstones Bloom for Spring

The arrival of March means one thing — spring is here! Lighter, brighter days and the first flush of colour from blossom on the trees; it’s a season that has long inspired AENEA’s founder and creative director Costan Eghiazarian.

“Spring for me is a colourful sea of tulips or flowers of all hues — vivid and fresh yet still matching somehow,” explains Costan. Always drawn to vibrant gemstones, he carefully paints colour across AENEA’s collections with faceted gemstones, harmonious to the collection theme, and to each other. “I work for hours, sometimes weeks, on the exact colour shades of our collections, and then choose the stones,” he says. “Other times, I choose gemstones that simply speak to me.”

Evoking shades of spring, Costan has recently worked on an alluring bejewelled brooch set with a rare pink conch pearl and an ombré of pink sapphires and diamonds. This special piece — showcased here for the first time — reveals the design brilliance of AENEA’s atelier.

“After growing up surrounded by the beautiful 20th century floral designs of the major jewellery houses, it was clear that our first brooch would need to be a flower design,” Costan says. “Taking the conch pearl as the starting point, the brooch needed to be a sleek, long flower. During my research, I discovered the calla lily and remembered my father working on a calla lily design for a client in the 1980s.”

Costan asked his father to share his past sketches of the lilies and, taking a closer look, was inspired to take his own brooch design in a different direction. “I concentrated on the details, the shape and the colours,” he explains.

The calla lily brooch is not the first springtime design from AENEA, however. The Quadrifoglio collection — a tribute to the lucky four-leaf clover — is a pretty design for spring when captured in white diamonds or complemented by vibrant tourmalines. In emerald, it becomes fresh and bold. A closer look at AENEA’s charm collection reveals new springtime additions, including four-leaf clover charms in white, rose and yellow gold, twinkling with diamonds.

And for a further dash of spring colour, AENEA’s Candy and Sarpa collections dazzle with pastel-hued gemstones, from gentle green amethysts, to sunshine-yellow tourmalines and sky blue sapphires.

With the alluring Sarpa collection in mind, Costan reveals he is working on new additions to the collection. “I recently worked on a new Sarpa ring that is the start of a much more colourful AENEA, which you’ll experience the next months,” he teases. Indeed, at AENEA, springtime jewels are truly in full bloom.
